A glorious and rare antique 9ct gold Wedgwood cameo pendant. Originating from the Victorian Era circa 1850, this antique jasperware plaque is of the finest quality.
The Wedgwood is encased in a solid 9ct Gold scrollwork border, and the bail allows you to suspend this sensational Victorian pendant from an antique Gold chain of your choice.
This superb Victorian period genuine
Wedgwood jasperware pendant is made of solid 9 carat yellow gold, with gold dual chain drop and natural pearl accents.
The blue Wedgwood depicts a sweet setting of an allegory of love, Cupid is seen breaking his bow as it's no longer needed (the wearer has found love) and Venus, goddess of long term devotion, waits to take over. The detail is quite amazing as the piece is a wonderfully wearable small size. Cupid's classical shell chariot is drawn by two lions, each separately depicted rather than duplicated, in an example of the extremely high quality artistry.
ERA: Victorian Era, c.1850.
MAKER: Josiah Wedgwood and Sons (British, Etruria, Staffordshire, 1759–present).
MEASUREMENTS: Pendant including the frame (without the chain) is 31mm wide and 20.2mm tall. The total drop length of the pendant is 52mm. The two Pearls measure 2.5mm wide and 1.6mm tall. The bail measures 6.3mm tall and 4.9mm wide.
Weight: 5.15 grams.
MATERIALS AND HALLMARKS: 9ct Gold frame, chain and bail. Wedgwood. Natural Pearl. The bail displays the stamp '9ct'. To the rear of the pendant is the authenticity stamp 'WEDGWOOD'.
CONDITION IS VERY GOOD: This is a gorgeous antique 9ct Gold Wedgwood cameo pendant. The Wedgwood is secure and features a sweet cameo. The Goldwork is just divine, and the ornate pretty border has kept tremendously. There is a tiny dent in the gold bail. A beautiful piece of art from the hands of famous potter Josiah Wedgwood that will be very popular with antique collectors.
